Vanity is the act of customizing (aka "pimping") your ship. That can be done with coatings, patterns, emblems, decals and actual ship parts, such as hulls, bridges, forecastles and sterns. They can be purchased on the Market or with Founder's Packs.
All these items can be equipped in the Appearance tab of each Loadout in the Hangar. Vanity Items (aka Cosmetics) whose names are italicized are no longer distributed or have limited distribution, typically due to them being distributed during events, part of a Founder's Pack or simply being seasonal offers.
Coatings[]
Scumbelt Pirate Coating
Coatings are the ships' paint job. They are ship specific, and can only be used on the ship they are purchased for. They are displayed as a little accorn-like ball colored with the primary and secondary colors (the first and second stripes, top to bottom) and the tertiary color is showed but not described. The secondary color is usually an "accent" color.
As of now, CBT, all coatings are availabe in the Market. Two coatings are Founders only, the Mercenary and the Hunter coatings.
The Kraken Cosmetic Set is a Rank-Locked set and is unlocked at the Rank 14, and will unlock an Emblem, 2 Decals and a Coating.
Patterns[]
Monarch's Woodland Cammo Pattern
These are simple coating patterns that change how the painting is applied. As of now, there are only two patterns for most ships. Those are the Splinter Pattern and the Woodland Camo Pattern. The Woodland Camo has one sub-pattern called 'Subtle". The Grenada has one special pattern called 'Two Tone' and the Kreshnik has two special patterns, the Woodland Camo Top and Bottom patterns.
Emblems[]
Mercenary Emblem
Emblems are little figures or coats of arms that appear at the forecastle of ships. They are usually faction-related and show the Captain's political position. Or are just something the Captain like, such as Boars.
Two embles are Founders' only. These are the Mercenary Emblem (to the right) and the Hunter Emblem.
The Kraken Cosmetic Set is a Rank-Locked set and is unlocked at the Rank 14, and will unlock an Emblem, 2 Decals and a Coating.
Decals[]

Decals are little figures or logotypes that are painted on the ship's hull. They are, once again, usually faction-related and show the Captain's political position. Or are just something the Captain like, such as being a Mercenary.
Two embles are Founders' only. These are the Mercenary Decal (to the right) and the Hunter Decal.

Other Vanity Items
The other vanity items are ship parts. These are included in the Hero Ship packs, which at the moment (CBT) are only available in Founder's Packs.
